I am finding it hard to do my job!! Tonsils friend or foe. (BY Dwight Pond)

When i was a toddler i would be known for disturbing everyone in the house by the way i snored and gasped for breath. I also experienced high fevers and difficulty in sleeping. Based on my difficulty in breathing my parents concluded that i may be suffering from asthma and was taken to the hospital. At the hospital the otolaryngologist( ear, nose and throat doctor) diagnosed me with Tonsillitis and not asthma. The doctor prescribed antibiotics that i would have to take and said that in time i would grow out of it. Despite the use of the antibiotics however, i continued to suffer with tonsillitis up until the age of four when my mother consulted with the doctor about removing my tonsils since this would be a hindrance when starting school. This procedure is known as tonsillectomy and i underwent the surgery at age five.

Tonsils are small masses of lymphoid tissue located around the pharynx. As part of the lymphatic system tonsils serve as a first line of defense by trapping and removing bacteria. Each tonsil is composed of tissue similar to lymph nodes covered by a pink mucous membrane. Tonsils tend to reach their largest size near puberty and they undergo atrophy after. However, they are largest relative to diameter of the throat in young children.

As we know the tonsils are made from lymphatic tissue whose job is to produce antibodies that fight infection. Ironically, such tissue is prone to becoming infected itself. As a result of the infection inflammation occurs and this inflammation is known as tonsillitis, a type of pharyngitis. Tonsillitis is mainly caused by congestion with bacteria and most common in children aged 3 to 7. Tonsillitis may affect other areas at the back of the throat including the adenoids, and there are many types of tonsillitis: acute, recurrent, and chronic.

Signs and Symptoms of Tonsillitis

  • Sore throat
  • Fever
  • Enlarged lymph nodes in the cervical(neck) region: leads to difficulty in breathing.
  • White or yellow coating on tonsils
  • Headache
  • Muffled or husky voice
  • Difficult, painful swallowing
  • Stiff neck
  • Bad breath
  • Chills

Causes of Tonsillitis
  • Streptococcus bacteria
  • Influenza virus
  • Epstein Barr virus
  • Para influenza viruses
  • Adenoviruses
I am thankful it was not asthma as thought by my parents before diagnosis but tonsillitis is still a prominent issue.Diagnosing tonsillitis involves taking a throat swab and culturing the sample. The most common way in treating Tonsillitis is through administration of antibiotics eg. amoxicillin if caused by bacteria while ibuprofen can be given for the pain. However, my tonsils refused to go away and this recurrent tonsillitis would have proven to be too difficult to handle as blockage of the airways can result in lack of oxygen supply and if not vigilant death especially in young children who may not be able to communicate what they are feeling. Since having the tonsillectomy i have not had any complications regarding the matter and my immune system is still in tact despite one it's organs being absent. That strange feeling in your throat may just be your tonsils finding it hard to do its job!!

  1. I was able to overcome senile dementia via a complete naturopathic process.

About two years ago, when I was 56, I started feeling foggy and had occasional memory lapses. My wife, Mary, started to notice it, too, but I also have hearing issues so she thought that was the problem. My memory worsened very gradually over the years, and we lived with it, compensating as needed. I became less social. After some months thereafter, it got to the point where we couldn’t keep making excuses or ignoring it. I had gone from doing our grocery shopping without a list to going with a list, to having the list but not buying what was on it.

Mary went online to do some research, and it was during this process we had been fortunate enough to come across Dr. Utu Herbal Cure: an African herbalist and witch doctor whose professional works had majored on the eradication of certain viral conditions, especially dementia, ( improving the memory capacity positively), via a traditional, naturopathic process and distinguished diet plan. It was by the administration of this herbal specialist that I had been able to improve my condition for better. So to say, the encounter with the above-mentioned herbal practitioner was the first time we ever heard there was something that possibly can be done to improve my memory functionality.

By the existence of such an encounter, I was able to learn of the new approach by which this herbalist successfully treated dementia conditions, which included a distinguished herbal therapy and lifestyle changes of which I had undergone to a tremendous, positive effect.
It was after the completion of the herbal therapy I had started to experience a great deal of cognitive improvement when it came to rational decision making.

In brief, I was able to go through the dreadful hollows of senile dementia without any further hazardous damage to my health condition, and within a short period. Had it not been for the support of my wife, of whom had encouraged me to undergo the above-mentioned therapy and that of the herbal practitioner of whom now happens to be benefactor - I would have been long exposed to the further perils of this condition and of which had been apt to result to a calamitous end.

I would also wish for the same positiveness upon patients who may happen to be suffering from this debilitating disease, and would warmly beseech them to find a confidant like this herbal specialist with whose professional service I was able to complete a divine recovery.
